SQL Server 2008 - Performance Counter Registry Hive Consistency Failed Error

If you ever get the following error during installation of SQLServer 2008


and wonder how to proceed. Let me help you out.

You need to execute the following command in elevated command prompt to repair the registry from backup
lodctr /R command from C:\windows\system32 directory
and
lodctr /R command from C:\windows\sysWOW64 directory (if running on a 64 bit OS)
